Good Vibrations

“Complexity is the enemy of execution”

“What human beings can do is amazing, what they will do is disappointing”

“Your life is a result of what you tolerate, what are you tolerating from yourself?”

and my most favourite . . .

“Trade your expectations for appreciation and your whole life will change in that moment”

Tony Robbins

On Wednesday I attended the Tony Robbins and friends conference here in Toronto.  I really wanted to go because Jen Sincero, author of “You are a Badass” was speaking..

It was an early morning wake up as the conference started at 7:30 am.  The day was packed with great energy and I loved listening to Jen tell her story of how she got to where she is today.  Her story was relatable and her speaking style was so laid back and authentic.  She truly helped me to see my own power.

Other speakers came on and they were all great, all with a different perspective on life and how we block ourselves from achieving our goals.

At 3:15 Tony Robbins hit the stage.  The energy in the room completely changed.  It went from a bunch of people in suits taking notes to crazed fans, jumping screaming and following along to whatever Tony asked them to do.

My first reaction was, “okay everyone, calm down, this is insane.” I felt completely cynical about his approach, I felt like the loud music, the flashing lights and all of the jumping was way over the top.  I was there to gather information.

Tony’s talk was to go until 5:30, he asked us permission to speak for an extra hour and we ended up walking out the doors at 8:15.

Somewhere between 3:15 and 8:15 I surrendered to Tony.  I realized what he was doing.  This wasn’t all about powerful quotes and sharing stories, this was first and foremost an intense training session.

He was training us how to physically change our vibration.  How to become a human magnet for all of the things we want so much in our lives.

The intense training went something like this:

Step 1 – Turn to the person beside you and sell them something, but do it in a way that is unconvincing.  Already decide in your head that this person is not going to buy from you.

Step 2 – Do it again, this time really believe in what you are selling.  Show that person the value and be playful with the way you do this.  (before we started this, we had to jump and dance to music)

Step 3 – Do it AGAIN!! (OMG!) This time sell it like your life depends on it, like nothing is going to stop you from making the sale, like this is what is going to feed your family tonight! (before step 3 began the music became even more crazy and upbeat, we danced for even longer)

My partner and I did so well with our sales pitches, we laughed, we had fun with it and our creativity soared to the point where we weren’t selling a “thing” to the other person, we were selling them an experience that they would not be able to live without.

The 12.5 hour day was worth it! Staying aware of the way I am feeling is so much more acute than it was before.

Let me assure you, you have no responsibility to worry, stress, or compare yourself to others.  Your only responsibility is to pay attention to the way you are feeling.  Feeling good will take you to places beyond our wildest dreams.

Download your favourite songs, keep them close and change your vibration.
