Iridescent – Inspired by Zsa Zsa Gabor

Iridescent – Inspired by Zsa Zsa Gabor

I never get tired of iridescent beads.  Whatever I can use them in I will.  Aurora Borealis is always magical and always enamouring.  Much like dear Zsa Zsa Gabor.

This colour combination takes me right back to my childhood.  Particularly watching the Lawrence Welk Show at my Oma’s house.  I was crazy about the Tiny Bubbles! Oma had a fancy housecoat that was a pastel shimmery pink and she always let me wear it when I came for sleepovers.  I felt so extravagant in it, and loved to imitate Zsa Zsa when I put it on.  I called Oma and my brother DAHLING with such enthusiasm.

Zsa Zsa had a big influence on me as a little girl growing up in the 70’s.  The glamour she exuded was over the top.  My Mom and my Oma were natural beauties, they never glammed it up like this woman. I was fascinated.

I remember seeing her with Leslie Nielsen on the Love Boat, she played an advice columnist who was giving more attention to her readers than her husband.

In real life she had several marriages.  Some may look at that as a failing but Zsa Zsa used those experiences to speak to women and left us with a library of hysterical quotes that made us laugh and comforted us in our own difficulties in navigating through relationships and marriage.

This is what I love about Zsa Zsa, she took something that society may have looked to as weak or failing and she turned it around with her confidence and grace.  She owned it and continued to sparkle, despite her hardships.

Tomorrow Zsa Zsa would have celebrated her 100th birthday.  She made it to 99 and I wonder if that can be credited to the fact that she had a light and humorous outlook on life.

This Spring when I release my Iridescent Colour Combination I want you to release your inner Zsa Zsa Gabor and remember that the world is your oyster, dahling.  Nothing is too glamorous or extravagant when it comes to you.  Go ahead and indulge yourself, you need it.

Most importantly, remember to embrace your human side and own it.  Who cares how everyone else might be looking at you? – It’s your life and your path to pave.

Zsa Zsa sure did leave us with some pretty dazzling quotes.  I’d like to leave you with a few, to put a smile on your face.

“I never hated a man enough to give him his diamonds back”

“I am a marvelous housekeeper. Every time I leave a man, I keep his house.”

“Getting divorced just because you don’t love a man is almost as silly as getting married just because you do.”

“I want a man who’s kind and understanding. Is that too much to ask of a millionaire?”

“One of my theories is that men love with their eyes; women love with their ears.”
