What Does Success Mean To YOU?

Friday night we celebrated being women at the glamjulz studio!

The studio was filled with kind, generous community minded women.  They came with boxes and boxes of clothing to give back to our friends at Dress for Success Toronto!

We kicked the evening off with an amazing talk from Success Coach, Tahira Bharmal who shared with us how to define success for ourselves.  When she started rhyming off what great leaders like Maya Angelou, Richard Branson and Abraham Lincoln defined as success, she delivered a very powerful message.  Her point was that these leaders and other great leaders have their own definition of success.  None of them live by someone else’s definition of success.  I loved this message.  It really drove home that no matter what our friends are doing, what our parents have taught us or even what our partner says, success IS personal.  It comes from within and once we know what it means to us we can begin to live our happiest life.

To me, success is when I meet someone and within 10 minutes they feel a sense of comfort and trust.  I LOVE to bring out the little kid inside the people I meet.  I think THAT kid has all the answers and helps us get to where we need to be in life!  Letting go and having FUN is what makes me feel free, adventurous and ready to take on new challenges.  When I have a crazy good time surrounded by supportive people I can’t help but believe in myself and my goals, I keep setting new challenges for myself, I question my inner limitations, I want to grow, I pay attention to my thoughts, I protect myself from burnout and I’m not afraid of failure!  All of the things, verbatim, that Tahira helped us to incorporate into our lives on Friday night.

Thank you to all of the wonderful women who joined us on Friday.  Together we raised $240, collected 20 boxes of clothing and donated 50 pieces of glamjulz to Dress for Success Toronto.

We also networked, made new friends and sipped a little bubbly.  The highlight for me was when ALL of our guests released their 12 year old selves at the party!  Women of all ages dressed up, danced, posed like Rock Stars and laughed uncontrollably.

My definition of SUCCESS was accomplished!  Wooo Hoooo!!!

We MUST do this again sometime!  Who’s IN?

Showing compassion towards others is the best way to empower and lead them to their own personal path to success.

Our compassion collection is available now on our website as we celebrate the season with what it means to be a woman.

Such a fun and inspiring evening. I didn’t know any of the other guests when I arrived but left feeling like I spent the evening with old friends. Women empowering women – that, to me, is the epitome of “wealth”…and success. Thank you for sharing your gifts, your energy and your gorgeous heart, Monica!
