The Tangaroa’s Gift Collection – The Dawn Tinge

The Legend

In the “Land of the Long White Cloud,” Aotearoa (New Zealand), it is told that Tangaroa, the god of the sea, once took pity on the plain and lonely Paua. To make him as beautiful as the other creatures, Tangaroa gifted him a palette of nature’s finest hues:

• The coolest blues from the depths of the ocean

• The freshest greens from the heart of the forest

• A tinge of violet stolen from the dawn

• A blush of pink from the fading sunset

• A shimmer of mother of pearl layered over it all

To protect this beauty from the world’s jealousy, Tangaroa gave the Paua a rugged, rock-like outer shell—allowing him to keep his brilliance safe until the moment it is ready to be revealed.

The Craftsmanship

Each necklace in this limited series is designed to tell this story of protection and light. Every piece is handcrafted with:

• A focal iridescent pendant available in the colours of the legend (Ocean Blue, Forest Green, Dawn Violet, or Sunset Pink).

• Natural Mother of Pearl, honouring the shimmer that binds the colours together.

• A signature iridescent shell bead, a tiny glass tribute to the paua itself.

• A spectrum of accent crystals ensuring every necklace contains all the “colours of nature” from the story.

The Meaning

This collection was born from a lifelong friendship with my “sister” Rosemary, whose New Zealand roots first brought this story to my heart. It is a tribute to the women who encourage us to show our true colours, yet stand by us as a protective shell when we need to retreat and find our strength.
