In January of this year I was honoured with the task of designing a fundraising piece of jewelry for the Meredith Hagan Foundation.
If you don’t know Meredith’s story I am happy to fill you in. Meredith was a Burlington resident… An Athlete… A Wife… A Mother, and one of the founding members of Phat Chicks.
She believed in leading by example, that positive energy is contagious and she was a role model for the many young girls and women that knew her. Sadly, in 2010, Meredith lost her life in a cycling accident, a huge loss to family, friends and the community, but her Ideals, goals and all that she stood for, proudly stays strong through the Foundation.
“The Meredith Hagan Foundation has been created to keep Meredith’s legacy alive by doing things she thrived at, namely, inspiring people. The Charity shall reflect the spirit and intent of Meredith to inspire through health, creativity, fitness, happiness and improving the quality of life for all. There will be an annual Run held at Mountsberg Conservation Area in June (around her Birthday) where people can come and challenge themselves to hit the trails for either a 5K; 10KM for this year and a 1/2 marathon and full marathon in the years following, allowing everyone to grow with their levels of experience and have something to strive for.”
If any of you would like more information on the Meredith Hagan Foundation, you can contact the team directly at info@meredithhaganfoundation.com.
To register for the upcoming run you can find race and registration information here
Just signed up for this – no idea if I’m gonna actually finish 10k in one piece, but what a wonderful person Meredith must have been….an inspiration for me to challenge myself.
A beautiful piece of jewelery for a beautiful cause!
Thanks for taking the time to do this! Kristen Steiner
