Back in July I received a phone call. A local woman named Meghan who just happened to find me online! Jeez, I LOVE when that happens.
Meghan was inquiring about jewelry because she and her husband were starting up an online shop. She had two ideas – one was to pick up a nice jewelry line to show in her shop and the other was to create a bracelet to raise money for a cause she really believed in!
Okay, so this was one of those times where the Universe sent this wonderful person right to me. Meghan had no idea about our “Caring & Sharing” program, she had no idea she could collaborate with glamjulz to fundraise. As soon as I explained to her what we do, it took the conversation to a whole new level.
I learned so much about Meghan and what she advocates for – another Wonder Woman, right here in the city of Burlington.
Meghan believes that no person should go hungry. It saddens her to see that this is still a problem in our communities. She explained to me that somehow it seems hidden but we all know it exists.
Prior to Covid Meghan had worked in the food industry for 22 years. She has been passionate about food her entire life. Meghan knows firsthand that having a good meal on the table can bring family and communities together.
I was shocked to hear from Meghan that last year 1,084,386 Canadians accessed their local food banks. Sadlly, 34.1% of these Canadians were children.
Now as we navigate through this pandemic, many Canadians are experiencing job loss and are counting nickels and dimes to make ends meet. Personally, Meghan has also seen the flip side of those who choose to spend money in a dysfunctional way, never having enough food for proper nourishment for their children. Meghan knows that support for our local food banks is needed now more than ever.
With the exciting launch of their new business, Meghan and her husband Dan want to use this opportunity to give back.
I feel so grateful that Meghan found me and the stars aligned! Since July I have collaborated with this local power couple and designed exclusive, limited edition bracelets for them, made with beads of Rose Quartz, Quartz, Adventurine, Glass and a Swarovski Crystal Pearl.
Their beautiful Bohemian Bracelets are $35 with $5 from each one collected supporting Food Banks Canada. If you are not familiar with Food Banks Canada – their mandate is to relieve hunger today and prevent hunger tomorrow in collaboration with the food bank network in Canada. They do this by maximizing the collective impact of the network, strengthening the local capacity of foodbanks, and advocating to reduce the need for food banks.
It has truly been an honour to work with Meghan and Dan as they also navigate to build their own successful small business and do whatever they can to support their community.
This is the type of collaboration I am always keen to get behind and support!
Wear this bracelet knowing that you have made a positive impact in someone’s life who needed a little help along the way to fill their tummies.
