Shop Local Saturday!

“Collaboration” . . .

Yup, that’s the buzzzzzz word out there these days.  Collaborate with others and grow your reach. Gain more followers.

Hmmmmm . . .

Sounds great but how do we do this?  How do we actually connect with people who are like minded and WANT to do business with us?

That’s a question that flies around the table on Tuesday mornings at 9am when we have our glamjulz staff meetings.

I have never believed it was about the number of followers we have.  I am so grateful to our customer base because the people who subscribe to us, follow us and support us, are into it!  They WANT to be here and they have the same values as we do at glamjulz.

No, I’m not interested in collaborating to gain millions of followers, I want to collaborate to meet more people whom we can help to show the world their sparkle.

Earlier in the year over a Tuesday morning meeting Natasha piped up with an idea on this topic.  She said, “why don’t we host a shop local Saturday with other artists?  They could come to the studio, set up their work and we could introduce them to our customer base.  In turn all of these artists could introduce glamjulz to their customers and we could all grow our tribe of amazing supporters.”

BINGO!

Yesterday we hosted our first Shop Local Saturday and it exceeded all of our expectations.  Natasha and I were beaming over the successful day and our three artists were blown away by the support they received and for the turnout we had.

That morning we converted the warehouse area of our studio into a marketplace. We had the big garage door open in the back to bring in the fabulous sunshine.  The 80’s music was pumping.  We even busted a few moves on the “dance floor” ha ha!  Why not?

Everyone LOVED our photo booth, we shot videos, thoughtful kids came to shop for Teacher Gifts, we had donuts, cookies.  Teresa Baerg from Snap’d Burlington whipped  by on her busy Saturday to shoot some video highlighting all the talented artists.

If you have a small business remember how powerful you are.  You can change people’s lives.  It doesn’t have to cost you an arm and a leg.  People are not impressed with all the flashy stuff.  Your customers will come and support you because you care about them and you give them an unforgettable experience.  That’s what they deserve.

That’s the best way I can describe what yesterday was, 100% unforgettable.

Please check out the three talented artists who that joined us yesterday:

Teresa Paul – Hides in Hand – Hand Crafted Canadian Leatherware

Tahira Bharmal – Kikaboni – Bath &  Body Products

Lisa McDonald – International Best Selling Author – Children’s Books – Personal Development

Thank you Monica for doing this. We had so much fun trying on new julz. I especially like the Canada Day line. They are going to be perfect gifts for our friends on our trip to Europe. We will be away for July1, but be proudly patriotic and wear out new glamjulz!

I made an impromptu and spontaneous visit to the glamjulz studio, because I just had to have a piece from the glamjulz Canada 150 line! Got a beautiful choker necklace with a little maple leaf charm, which I’ll wear proudly at lots of events this month leading up to Canada Day. Just for fun, we did a bit of Facebook Live video, and I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with the other talented artists who were featured at the studio. I’m always in awe of how creative other people are – such talented ladies! I picked up a gorgeous, soft-as-butter, little cross-body Canada 150 themed bag from Hides in Hand. Such a pleasure to meet the artists and see the magic that happens when great people put their ideas together. Would love to see more of these events! Support local talent, everyone!

Last minute decision to come down to shop local Saturday was great, it is always good to 4see the ladies from glamjulz, and to meet some other vendors/authors who make local products, me and my wife were very happy with our purchases from Monica and other vendors

My friend, Joanne, and I stopped by Shop Local Saturday with 2 purposes in mind. Joanne wanted to purchase a necklace for a bridal shower and and to find a birthday necklace for “our” mom. This is a joint gift for my “other” mother, a beautiful lady I’ve been so lucky to have in my life. We found just the necklace, beautiful blues and greens and Monica did us the utmost favour of exchanging the clasp for a bling magnet for ease of operation! A senior’s dream! We felt like stars having our photos taken on your stage and even got to meet Wonder Woman herself!
Such a treat to meet other local artisans and see their beautiful wares. I purchased a gorgeous turquoise mini purse from Hides in Hands, perfect for summer outings. Great idea to shop local!

What a fabulous morning! Not only was there shopping, but I had some amazing conversations connecting with the business owners. My mom was with me and she understood the importance of buying local and supporting the businesses we’re trying to build and grow (she loves her earrings!). It’s a wonderful initiative and I look forward to watching it grow! xo
