Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Bright Run, held at the beautiful Dundas Valley Conservation Park. Lot’s of rain, lots of mud and lots and lots of people! We had a fantastic morning, all coming out for a great cause!
Our Bright Betty zipper pulls sold like crazy and it was so rewarding to see many people sporting them as they walked and ran to help raise money for the CIBC Breast Assessment Centre.
The run ended up raising $270,000. Amazing!
If you weren’t able to make it this year please mark you calendar’s for next year’s event, September 7th 2013. You’ll really enjoy the scenery, the people and the great energy. Sunni Genesco from K-Lite FM was there to MC and we all enjoyed a fantastic performance by local crooners, “Four over Forty”! There was even a raffle for a beautiful Pink Canoe which Co-Chair, Nancy McMillan has been portaging around everywhere for the last few months to bring awareness to the cause.
A big thanks to all of my wonderful friends that attended the run with me, including my dear friend Janet Cockburn, a breast cancer survivor and creator of the Been-A-Boob. My lovely friend Sharon, also a survivor, and her sweet daughter Lauren who walked almost an entire kilometer on her own AND kept up with the big girls!
What a great community we live in!
Way to go everyone!
It was great seeing you at the Bright Run. At least the rain stopped once we got walking! The volunteers do an amazing job of putting it all together. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful Cancer Clinic in our local area.
And I agree – what a great community we live in.
Love it Monica! You are a beautiful Jewel! Barbara x
