My Dad

Today I am writing about my Dad, because I want you all to know what a special man he is.

He has been on my mind every hour, every minute and every second of every day, because our family found out, in a very short period of time, that he has bone cancer.

In one short month we have watched our big strong hero go from barbequing steaks at the cottage to currently laying in a hospital bed, unable to get up or walk.  As you can imagine, our whole family is in shock, and we are somehow keeping it together with showers of love and support from family and friends.

I am so grateful to all of the amazing doctors and nurses that have been caring for him and next week we are hoping that he will be in the good care of the Juravinski Cancer Centre and Hospital.  How incredible that glamjulz has been passionate about raising money for this wonderful organization for the past 3 years, and now my dear Dad is in need of their help.

Is it naive of me to say that I NEVER thought cancer would touch our family?  Yes, it probably is, but it’s the truth

My heart goes out to all of you that have experienced illness within your family. The strength that you find to get up every day and do what needs to be done while the well being of your loved one consumes your every thought, is a miracle in itself.

Gratitude, appreciation, love, and support is my full time occupation right now, while continuing to raise as much money for Juravinski as I possibly can through glamjulz..

This week when you put on your glamjulz maybe you can say a little prayer for Wolfgang Normann, the best father a girl could ask for.

Thank you all for your friendship, loyalty and kindness.

-Monica

Monica,

My heart goes out to you and your family. My father had prostate cancer which was removed then not even a year later he had pain in his shoulder and they thought it was an old hockey injury but no it was bone cancer…..I always knew what cancer was but to actually see someone go through that kind of physical change and pain is beyond anything. Love, support and keeping as positive as possible will help him and you and your family get through this difficult time. I wear all my glamjulz pieces with pride always!

Monica:

I know exactly what you are going through, except we didn’t have enough time to even prepare. My Dad went into the hospital Good Friday and we discontinued life support easter monday. It has been 6 years and it is as real as yesterday.
Please accept my prayers for you and your family and take each moment, minute, second with the time that is left. Think of the good times, the joy the essence of what makes your family strong. Thank you for sharing your picture. You are not alone we are all here for you. God Bless to you all I am thinking of you and praying.

Dear Monica
What a beautiful man. I love that picture of the both of you. The cycle of life is so cruel when it strikes with such a terrible disease and it seems none of us are spared somehow or other. I’m so sorry that you and your family are forced to live through this agonizing time. Thankfully you are all there with him and he knows how loved he is and you know how loved you are too. Lots of love, Tiiu

Dear Monica and Family:

I am deeply saddened with this news especially that it is very close to my own experience with my Dad.

I will pray for Uncle Wolfgang with hopes to see him soon at one of your parties to enjoy some schnapps together.

When I sometimes reminisce about your parties I always laugh because your Dad and I have couple of drinks together and then we had some of your amazing appetizers, but one time you ‘v served edamame and both, your Dad and I, did not know what edamame is.

My love and my prayers to you and your Family,

Jaravinsi took excellent care of my brother in law last year. Monica- i can’t even begin to tell you how much my heart goes out to you and your family and especially your hero of a father, Wolfgang. I know that the only stronger person than you is Wonder Woman or perhaps or Kira in Xanadu, however this situation would test anyone’s strength. I know I have been AWOL this past year and we are both busy but time for something important like this is time better spent than anywhere else in the world. If there is anything… and i mean anything that I can do to help you out – i really hope you’ll let me know. Even if you just need to grab a last minute glass of wine and a shoulder to cry on or someone to yell at. Maddie has me trained very well in this area.

That being said – STAY positive. I know that you will because it is inherent in your DNA but think only of the best possible outcome.

I’m sorry, Moni. What a difficult time this must be for you.

Hi Glamgirl Monica! How much I feel for you at this time dealing with your wonderful Dad “our Wolfman” as we have heard him called occasionally. My heart is filled with love and compassion for your dear Mom and you, your brother & all the family. Every prayer goes out to your dear Dad Wolfgang…he has always been such a Class Act, and know in my heart this has to be the hardest things for him to feel helpless. Monica…

I’m so sorry to hear about this. I think you know that our dad passed away this past July from cancer. What a horrible sickness for not only the person suffering from it, but also the family too. I wish you all well but most of all your father. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I think I too was naive in thinking cancer would not affect my family and to think it affected the person I thought was strongest of all. Please let me know if you need anything even someone to drop off a coffee or lunch or something. Make the most of all your time with him and treasure every moment.

All my love!

Hi Monica,
You don’t know me, but I too am in the jewelry business and I have followed your great success over the years. I am very sorry to hear that cancer has touched your family. My family has had too much experience with this disease – and what I can share with you is that the love of family and friends has a way of making the journey to health and healing of loved ones inflicted by the diagnosis just a little easier. I feel your pain – but do your best to stay positive, embrace the love around you, and pray with all your might. I keep your dad, and you in my prayers.

Our world is better place with characters like your father. Much to learn, much to emulate, and above all else, much to respect.

My only issue with your blog post is “…we are somehow keeping it together”. From all that I know about you — your strength is built-in, it’s your nature and something that “our big strong hero” instilled in you from very early on.

You are your father’s daughter; a mirror of strength and love. A fact unquestionable.
