In high school I was the queen of the basement parties! I loved everything about bringing my friends together for an evening of great music, laughs and discussions about what we would do with our lives when we were old enough to move out of our parent’s house.
Every detail was so important, the invitations, the music selection, how the furniture would be set up in the basement and what would be hung from the walls (my parents were super cool, my brother and I got free reign on what we could nail to the wood paneling).
I loved to transform that room and see how my friends would respond to all of the interesting collectibles I found to display. My Mom’s Elvis 45’s, my brother’s Amadeus movie poster, my paintings of movies stars and album covers, the Toucan from Mexico, and Inky, the little blue mascot that traveled with my parents through Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa in the late 60’s.
Last week I hosted a very special “Girls Night Out” at the glamjulz studio. This fabulous party was thrown to bring women in business together and support Dress for Success.
The party prep for this event brought me back to my high school days. With my glamgirls by my side lots of great ideas came up to throw the perfect party! Cute invitations, a glass of bubbly to greet our guests with, a designated area where they could drop off their donations, 25% off coupons for any glamjulz purchases made that night when they brought a donation, sparkly name tags where our guests wrote their name and how they were feeling. That was fun, we had names like Tanya Hungry, Holly Happy and Nancy Awesome. This cute little exercise made it relaxed and easy for people to mingle. Maggie here at glamjulz created an amazing Instagram Board where our guests could have their picture taken and tag the party on their own Instagram pages.
The 80’s music was pumping and we shot a Facebook Live video where we gave our guests an opportunity to talk about their businesses. We also created a little area where they could drop their business cards into baskets marked with different points of interest like Food & Wine, Health & Well Being, Fashion and Styling, Female Empowerment and Fundraising. Now we know what types of events we can host in the future to make our guests feel special.
Bringing like-minded people together is a joy. I love how the energy in a room can transform the space and make the night magical. Having meaningful experiences and creating memories is what life is all about.
I am truly lucky that I get to create that with all of you. It really is the best feeling! Plus we gave back HUGE to our community! I’ll be backing up the U-Haul full of clothes, shoes, belts, scarves and coordinating glamjulz to Dress for Success in the next couple of weeks!
This party was proof that our positivity will help our sisters in need to sparkle!
